Westport, CT- The Mother Goose Jazz Band with special guest vocalist Laurel Massé, founding member of The Manhattan Transfer will perform a free concert of jazz for children at Levitt Pavilion For The Performing Arts in Westport, CT on July 27 at 7 PM.
The Mother Goose Jazz Band performs creative arrangements of nursery rhymes giving kids a unique introduction to jazz. Director/ Composer/ Musician/ Teacher, Josh Greenberg, says, "The music is designed for both young and adult audiences. Familiar children's songs have been set to the music of the greats: Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Charlie Parker and others to bring the rich heritage of jazz to a whole new generation."
For the past 10 years The Mother Goose Jazz Band has been bringing their unique brand of jazz and family entertainment to the children and parents of New England and the Northeast, playing such venues as First Night New York City, The New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and The International Association of Jazz Educators National Conference. Their albums: Rhythm & Rhymes, Go With The Flow, and See How They Run have garnered awards from The American Library Association, Parents Guide to Childrens Media and the Critics Choice Award From Family Life Magazine.
